So, if you’re like me, you judge a book by its cover (I’m sorry I know I shouldn’t but I do). You probably also know that US books can sometimes have a vastly different cover than it’s UK counterpart, or vice versa. So I’ve compiled a list with some of the drastically different covers I like, US and UK versions.
So this is really difficult because there are so many amazing book covers and it was really hard to narrow this down. But wow, these covers are soooo beautiful. Most of these are new covers from the last year or so or are upcoming releases because publishing has really stepped up their game regarding book covers. I never thought that I liked covers with models on, but looking at this list…yeah, that’s not true apparently. Here are my top eight, mostly recent, favourites (and also, every one of these are/sounds amazing).
I have Let’s Talk About Love and Wild Beauty in hardback and OMG they are so beautiful. Pictures do not do them justice. I really want to get all of these as physical copies (probably won’t/can’t happen).
Book covers are definitely something that draws me to a book, so it’s fair to say I think they’re really important, but these are just a few of my favourites – there are so many more amazing covers out there.
What are some of your favourites?
Tomorrow is International Women’s Day and it coincides with America’s International Women’s Month. So, what a perfect time to celebrate some female heroes? Today I am hosting Matt Killeen, author of Orphan Monster Spy, who is here today celebrating one of his female heroes, Sophie Scholl.
2017 was a great year for releases. I found some new favourites (you can see our blog post on our favourites from 2017 here). But looking through some of the 2018 releases I get the urge to just pre-order every single one, but alas, my bank account could not cope with that. 2018 offers such a large variety of YA releases, and here is a list of all our most anticipated upcoming releases (it’s quite long,
sorry not sorry):
2017 has been a pretty bad year in a lot of ways, but it has also been a good reading year. We’ve read some bad books, but we’ve also read some excellent ones. So here is a list we compiled of our combined favourite books that we’ve read in 2017 and it was pretty difficult. So, here goes, and in no particular order: Continue reading “YABookers Top 10 Books of 2017”
We recently got back off holiday, and where is the perfect place to read book after book? That’s right, right by the pool. We got through a good amount of ARCs each and this post is just to sum up everything we read. Because we’ve read so many, we have a lot of reviews to write, which we haven’t managed to do yet. But we did enjoy most of the books we read.
→ Overall number of books read: 16 Continue reading “Holiday Wrap Up”
It was my birthday yesterday, and obviously, I asked for a lot of books. Luckily, I have parents who don’t mind buying me books despite my shelves being overcrowded as it is. I got some excellent books that I’m really excited about and books that I’ve heard some really great things about. Continue reading “Birthday Book Haul”
For those of you that don’t know, Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box for gamers and geeks – their boxes contain things like t-shirts, collectables, and themed merchandise. Honestly, they look kind of awesome. (They even do Firefly & Harry Potter ones!) So when we were heard about Loot Crate putting together a fun project for fans to create their very own dream crate, we were all for it. Continue reading “YABookers Dream Loot Crate”
We are relatively new to bookstagram (@yabookers). We love it. I love seeing people’s bookshelves and I love seeing their beautiful photos of the books they loved. They are so aesthetically pleasing that I want to buy every book I see in a pretty photo. Alas, my bank account won’t allow it. Bookstagram is an excellent way to find and promote new books, so after Twitter, bookstagram is where I find most of my other recs. So, what follows are some of my favourite bookstagrammers: Continue reading “YABookers favourite bookstagrammers”
So whilst this year has been fantastic for books, 2017 looks even better. Here’s a list of the ones we’re super excited for (and you should be too):
