The Girl From Everywhere (The Girl From Everywhere #1) by Heidi Heilig – This book was everything I wanted and more. The Girl From Everywhere is truly something special. It’s beautifully written with fantastic story telling. There is such great character development, fantastic character interaction and I have a lot of love for Nix and Kashmir. I loved the Hawaiian setting in the 1880s and it is clear the author put a lot of time and effort into the culture and the atmospheric setting. A book to put on your TBR piles, people!

Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys –  Based on a true story, Salt to the Sea is truly a heart-breaking and devastating read. Sepetys tells the stories that have been ignored or overshadowed by other terrible events in history. Salt to the Sea tells the story of the sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff, a ship carrying many refugees, with a death toll estimated to be over 9,000. This is Ruta Sepetys’ best book to date. I fell in love with many of the characters, and my heart broke when theirs did. Salt to the Sea is a must read for any fans of historical fiction.

The Abyss Surrounds Us (The Abyss Surrounds Us #1) by Emily Skrutskie – The Abyss Surrounds Us is a very unique book. It’s a science fiction story that is very engrossing with pirates and sea monsters and badass ladies, who had great and complex relationships and a great romance. The Abyss Surrounds Usis a must reads for science fiction fans.

Rebel of the Sands (Rebel of the Sands #1) by Alwyn Hamilton – A magical, enchanting, and adventurous read. We have a gun-slinging badass and witty heroine, Amani and a charming love interest, Jin. Wonderful world building and a great debut fantasy novel. A must read.
